    – Very easy to assemble
    – the Test flight was awesome. Had 3-4 good runs as I was learning to fly the drone
    – Landing was tough as 70% of the time, it toppled over. Felt like, it might damage the propellers
    – I wanted to purchase extra propellers but Amazon or vendor site do not sell propellers. I tried calling Amazon support and vendor support did not get any response.
    – During the next session of flying, lost controls few times and had a crash landing
    – When it was flying in control, it was amazingly stable. great picture quality with 4K
    – Package should contain micro SD card. buying that separate is an hassle and could not record video as soon as I got the drone.
    – should have avoidance feature as it will save lot of crash landings and can have more fun
    – If the issues are fixed and have ability to purchase parts, I would buy this again.

I owned several drones before (including 4 K Yuneec) but this one top it all. For the price, i think it’s a good deal consider the built quality and ‘plug and play’ software/setup.

    Pros:
    1. No Calibration needed! I love this feature. Nothing is more annoying than when flipping the drone upside down and around every time you take it
    2. Great camera 4k quality (need a microSD card)
    3. Long lasting battery. It flew it for 15min with a couple of stops in between (to test the return to base feature) and still have about 50% battery left
    4. Large and great built quality for the joystick controller. I like that you could switch between different mode for the joystick (i am left-handed so i use the left joystick to move forward and backward, mode 2). The controller is big enough to house my Samsung Fold so you can probably throw any phone at it.
    5. Intuitive layout for the controller. You can adjust the camera position, brightness, take picture, record video all from 4 dedicated buttons on the controller. No need to touch your phone (though you can also do that on the phone)
    6. Great app. The controller recognized the drone right away moments after you connected to its Wi-Fi. This by far has the shortest setup time in all the drones I’ve owned. The app also has step-by-step instruction if you don’t want to look at the paper manual ( i haven’t looked at the manual yet and was able to connect and fly the drone all from the app)
    7. Learner mode (limit height and speed) is turned on by default which is a great idea. Though this drone is easy to fly, it is on the larger side so make sure your kids familiar with it before turn this mode off.
    8. Very stable and easy to fly.

    Cons:
    1. The battery charger is a bit flimsy (see review video). There is no ‘click’ indication that the charger is locked in as you connect it to the battery. Once plug in, if you move the charging cable the connection would come lose. The charging pins are also expose and you could damage it if not careful. The manufacturer contacted me and said they would work to improve this.
    2. The power button (holding the battery) can be buggy. I had to hold it a few times before it turned on, and at one point i couldn’t turn it off so i had to pull the battery out.
    3. Need microSD card to record and/or take pictures. My previous drone, you can record directly to your phone. I haven’t found a way to do that with this drone. It is not a deal breaker but it’s a useful feature to have.

In all it’s a great drone with top built quality for the price.

This is the third drone my son and I have flown together. Our other two drones are also Potensics. The D18 was our first, and the Elfin our second. Both of those units are solidly in the “toy” category of drones. So getting the Dreamer 4K was definitely a step up for us in size and quality.

Before I get into the review, I want to clarify that despite owning these other two drones, I consider myself to be a beginner drone pilot. My review is coming from the perspective of someone who has only flown two other smaller drones, and I have no experience with higher-level pro drones. With this in mind, my review can only compare my experience based on flying the smaller toy drones.

The packaging was nice and tight, secure, and solid. I really appreciated the little details, like the small foam pieces inserted in and around the camera to protect it from being jostled during shipping. When I pulled everything out of the box, I laid it all out on the table and was pleased to find an extra set of propellers for the unit. Everything is labeled clearly, with plenty of bright yellow stickers indicating important details for assembly.

A different app is required for this drone compared to my other drones, but this wasn’t a big surprise as this drone has more capabilities. It downloaded easily, and I began to follow the in-app instructions, which were very clear and detailed. The booklet also has instructions which go into even more detail than the app, providing plenty of detail and pictures to make sure beginners like me don’t mess things up. I was super impressed with this level of detail and user friendliness.

I had some trouble turning on the drone, but then I realized the instructions hadn’t specifically said to charge the drone first. Rookie mistake, because I think that’s probably a no-brainer. So I set everything aside and charged both the drone and the remote control. I found that the charger was a little wonky and didn’t seat as firmly as I’d hoped, so I had to wiggle it a bit to get the charging light activated. Once you see the flashing lights, you know you are good to let it go. The light bars will progress as the charge is progressing, so you’ll have a good idea how far it’s charged as it goes.

Each arm of the drone requires a specific propeller, but the propellers are clearly marked with CW and CCW for clockwise and counter-clockwise respectively, along with a red or white label–another example of the clarity of the directions and user-friendliness.

Once I was satisfied everything was set up properly and fully charged, we took the unit out to a wide-open space. Our plan was to first just to hover it and get our bearings with the unit. Then we wanted to fly it very simply, just up and around us very close, just to get some video.

Take off was simple, though the hover was a bit unstable. There was a brisk breeze, so the hovering could have been affected by that. Next I tried to do a simple flight, so I adjusted the stick slightly. Immediately it began to wobble in a wide circle and crashed. I suspect the geomagnetic calibration was off so ran the calibration again and the hovering worked 100 times better, and the drone flew up smoothly and with great control. I was impressed with how responsive the drone was and how simple it was to fly.

I think we’ll have a lot of fun with this drone, and I can’t wait to get more footage. What video I was able to get was just gorgeous. The 4K camera captures the view magnificently.

I definitely recommend this drone for intermediate users, and beginners who are willing to go slow and take your time learning. This unit does not have a gimbal, so it might not be the best drone to get professional footage.

This drone is a little scary. It has 8″ rotors and the horizonal controls are insanely sensitive. A slight push in one direction and the drone jumps like it’s been hit by lightning. When you release the control, it is equally as abrupt in coming to a stop. Strangely, the vertical and yaw controls are not nearly as sensitive. Since it has no gimble, your video will always have those sudden swinging motions in it. I contacted Potensic tech support and they said they are working on the problem for future drones but won’t fix this one. Translation: If you don’t like last year’s product, try this year’s model. No thanks.
