I absolutely love this drone but to be fair I will list off some Pros and Cons and then follow up with my impressions of it.
Pros
1. This is a really well designed and built drone that will last as long as you don’t end up crashing and even then it will be more than likely fixable.
2. Flight time on this drone with 1 battery is around 20 minutes which is quite reasonable and with the automatic return when drone is in low battery mode you don’t have to worry about it just falling out of the sky.
3. The 4K UHD camera with built-in advanced electronic image stabilization (EIS) is ridiculous for this price point. To take advantage of this cameras maximum potential you should purchase a U3 or V60 micro SD card.
4. With the weight and max speed (25 miles per hour) of this drone isn’t as affected by the wind as much lighter drones with less capable motors.
5. Customer support from DeeRC has been amazing I emailed them a few questions about some of the specifications of the D15 and heard back from them with in hours. They answered all my questions in a very timely and polite manner.
Cons
1. This drone doesn’t come with a carry case. That being said I am more than willing to make one for the price I paid for a drone of this quality and abilities.
2. Because of the weight of this drone being over .55 pounds or 250 grams you are required to register it with the FAA which literally took me all of 5 minutes and 5 dollars. You can find more out about drone registration here
In conclusion I really like the DeeRC D15 drone and find it fun to fly and the pictures it produces are quite good for the price I paid for it. Is this a DJI Mavic no but it cost half as much as a mavic mini and is more than enough for most people without the all the cost of a DJI drone. So if your drone hobbyist and your looking for a drone to take to that family gathering or church event I can not recommend this drone enough.

This drone is well-built and very similar in quality to the Holy Stone HS720E, which I also own and reviewed. A couple major differences are apparent right away: (1) This is not a foldable drone, and does not come with a case, so it is a bit more difficult to transport. Even the blades are fixed and don’t collapse like other models. (2) The camera’s vertical angle can be adjusted remotely. This is a killer feature as most previous drones in this class had either fixed camera view, or the camera had to be manually adjusted pre-flight.
Bonus points for them choosing a USB-C connector for charging the battery. This is becoming a popular standard for high-amp charging cords, and with my phones using USB-C, it’s good to know I have the right cable always around. I did several short test flights and was easily able to get at least 20 minutes of flying time.
I’m not exactly sure what “level 4” winds are, but I did fly this in a stiff 25-35mph wind at it was able to maintain altitude and position with a little horizontal drifting within about a 6-10 foot range. Manageable for open areas, but you have to be careful still near trees and powerlines. The video certainly had no indication of wind jitter or shaking!
One minor nit is the sensitivity of the joysticks. I found myself inadvertently rotating the drone while trying to adjust altitude using the left joystick. This might just take some getting used to.
As one other reviewer pointed out, the default app “M RC PRO” was OK, but using “Ophelia Go” seems to work much better. I even tested this out using a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7 inch tablet and it worked out well, except no easy way to mount such a large screen on the controller.
I’m in agreement with the other reviews that this is a well-built, stable drone with excellent video and picture quality. This is my new go-to drone!

Right from unpacking you can tell this is a quality drone. It is very well made of very strong materials. The app was quick and easy to install, I have the android version and it worked fine with a Motorola E5-Plus. You really need to follow the instructions step by step to connect the internet, start the app, with or without GPS and pair then it worked flawlessly. This is my second drone I purchased from DeeRC and this one is far superior to my other one.
It is VERY stable in flight with and without GPS turned on. It landed very close to the take off position. Even though we live in a very heavily wooded area it still found the satellites. (I tried to post more videos but Amazon only allows one video per review.) I did fly this very close to trees near my house and then land it with no problem and no crashes. (I couldn’t fly close to trees with my other drone).
The camera is amazing. It is so stable with the anti shake feature. Very clear and bright photos and videos.
Overall I give this 5 stars and I will continue to update this review after I take it out to our main flying area so I can try out all the other features.

UPDATE: Still having great fun with this drone. I’m VERY satisfied with all the functions and features. It is amazingly easy to fly and really have improved my skills by trying different things in an open area without trees and other obstructions. The landing lights are great even in the day time. I have had to turn these on on several occasions to find the drone as it was high and far. The light was bright enough to help locate it. As this is only my third drone I am still amazed how high and far this one will go. On one flight I got the yellow low battery warning, it first came down in altitude and distance and after few few more minutes I got the red low battery warning at which point it came back and landed from where it took off without me controlling it. I purchased an Apache 4800 case from Harbor Freight and laser cut the foam for the drone and accessories. I also made a mount and sun shade for my cell phone so I no longer have to remove the case to mount the phone on the controller.
