Description

  • 4K EIS Anti-Shake Camera: The EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) technology reduces video blurring and makes video transmission more stable. It uses pixels outside the border of the visible frame to provide a buffer for changes in direction. The 5GHz FPV transmission allows you to pull off epic, fast-paced shots. A 90° adjustable camera with a 130°FOV lens can capture a wide view of every precious moment. It lets you have almost unlimited viewing!
  • GPS & GLONASS Navigation Satellite System: Since it is equipped with these two navigation modules, the drone can hover with more stability, reducing the risk of loss. When the drone loses signal or power, it will trigger the return to home function.
  • Extremely User Friendly: There is no need for complicated preparation work before each flight. The Altitude Hold, Headless Mode, Air Pressure Sensor and Optical Flow modules make the HS700E super friendly for novice pilots. The brushless motors run more powerfully and with much less noise than competitor drones.
  • Numerous Additional Features for Endless Fun: The Follow Me, Custom Flight Path and Smart Return to Home can be controlled by our Ophelia application while you view your drone’s camera video on your Smart Phone.
  • 2 Modular Batteries & Easy-to-Carry Case: Comes with two batteries that last a total of 46 minutes. Easy and safe to use. This superior drone comes with a premium carrying bag. These features make the HS700E easy to use outdoors and very simple to store safely when not in use.

The HS 700E is at the top of the market in this price point. It is built solid and fly’s very well. You will need to register with FAA via the drone zone due to it being over 250 grams. It comes with two sets of quick change propellers, that’s right, no screws here, two batteries, controller and a soft case with foam insert for all the above to keep them safe. You can fly this via GPS with with or without a phone or tablet. If you want to fly first person view and use all the additional features via the Ophelia Go app you will need a phone or tablet that is capable of connecting to the drones 5G wi-Fi network. The controller connects to the drone via 2.4 ghz. 400 feet high is the limit in the USA and you will have no issue reaching that. In my testing I can get out about 500 to 600 feet distant at 400 ft altitude before losing video connection, your phone may be different. Its definitely far enough to get some great still shots or 4k video. The drone accepts up to a 128gb Micro SD card. I have a hard time getting the sd card out of the slot without using tweezers due to it laying flat against the body surface but not a big issue. With GPS locked the drone holds position very well even in 15mph wind and the Electronic Stabilization does a pretty good job of keeping the shake to a minimum. Without a camera gimble you will see the horizon tilt if the drone is tilted by the wind. Picture quality is pretty darn good at this price point. You can control the cameras up and down motion from the remote control but I wish it moved a little slower and precisely. It has a return to home feature that worked every time I tried it. This is a great feature if you lose connection with the drone. Pre-flight set your RTH altitude to get over the highest object in your area, and up and back it will come. Like I said this drone is solid. It doesn’t have the foldable arms that break when you crash. I pushed it a few times and hit some metal poles. I dented a few props but the drone is unscathed.
There are many more features I’m not going to cover here but overall I’m happy with this. ***I would not recommend this for a beginner especially a child or teen due to its complexity and weight. This could hurt someone if it fell out the sky or if the props were driven into someone. IF your an adult you certainly could work your way through the instructions, calibrating the compass, as well as getting info from several Holystone Facebook groups. If not I highly recommend starting with a toy drone such as the Holystone HS190 with prop guards( or similar HS models) on so you can learn the basic controls of up/down, forward/backward, left/right, and the confusing for beginners, Axis left/right. It will save you from a lot of heartache.
Don’t expect this to perform like the thousand dollar drones out there and you will be very pleased. Its a great platform to learn from and another hit from Holystone.

I got this HS700E quadcopter as a first more high end quadcopter to play with for flying and taking video and photos. Previously, I flew the toy ones that did not have sophisticated electronics like GPS and high end 4K video cameras. I was impressed when I opened the box with the quality feel of the packaging and foam padded container for the quad, as well as the high quality feel of the quadcopter, controller, and detailed manual instructions that allowed me to learn how to use this machine.

I charged the batteries, which took a few hours, and took it for a test flight. I was a little nervous having crashed the lighter quadcopters I’ve flown, and there was a slight breeze on my street. This HS700E is a bit heavier and stood up to the light wind well. In the attached video, I did a quick review, followed by some clips of me flying, followed by some clips of video from the phone app that was paired to the quadcopter. I’m guessing the 4K video quality would be on the microSD card in the quad, versus what’s going to the phone over wifi.

I had a lot of fun flying this for the first few times, and will take it to the park soon to get a little more adventurous in flying altitude as well as distance away from me in a more open space. First impressions are that this thing is really cool, and I’m looking forward to flying it a lot more in the coming weeks. If I have any issues or thoughts that warrant an update to this review, I’ll post something. Otherwise, would definitely recommend buying this for the price.

Update 1: Went back to the park and was able to fly with the “follow me” function. Very cool the quad follows and points the camera at you as you move around. Also used the “land at home function” and the quad was able to come over and land itself. So far so good and I’m much less worried about crashing given these functions built into the app on the phone paired to the quad.

Update 2: Today I figured out that I was in a “beginner mode” which wouldn’t allow me to fly further away. So, I turned that off 🙂 I was able to go up to ~300 ft when my wifi video cut out. I also flew hundreds of feet away comfortably because I knew that “home” button would bring the quadcopter right back. I successfully used the waypoint directed flight over the phone app, and the circulating around a point of interest. I am thoroughly impressed so far with the quality of the quadcopter hardware and software – even in moderately windy conditions the performance is impressive.

I already have the Holy Stone HS720E 4K EIS (fold up drone) and wanted a rigid model to compliment it in my fleet. I have had great luck with the HS720E so I thought I would give the HS700E a try.

Unboxing it, I was very happy to see the padded case with compartments for the drone and components. It has the same remote as my HS720E, so it was a quick set up. I rated this as good for a beginner, yet feel that this rating is applicable to older kids and adults that will take the time to follow the instructions.

This thing is awesome to fly and the camera and stability is great (I like it better than my HS720E, and that one takes nice videos and pictures). Another aspect I really liked are the quick attach/detach blades. The blades and arms are clearly marked A & B along with the fact they can only press and twist into the correct arms. I recommend starting in the low speed before moving to high speed. Also, it was defaulted to a beginner mode (won’t go very far out and up). Make sure you check the mode if you feel it is not responding to the remote, as the beginner settings will stop it from going very far.

This thing has a lot of features found in much more expensive drones (follow me and orbit are a couple cool features). My only gripe would be the 5 hour charge time. Being this drone is at a decent price point, you can always pick up a couple more batteries on Amazon. I recommend doing that after you try the drone out for a while to make sure it is a keeper for you (as the batteries are model specific)

Bottom line, this is a great drone and you will not be disappointed with the drone or the customer service from Holy Stone (I have had good luck with both). Enjoy the video I attached to help you with your decision.
