I had never flown a drone. After once again being asked for drone photos and video for a real estate ad, I decided to take the plunge. After some research and study, I decided on the Mavic Air 2. Once it arrived, I watched a couple of YouTube videos and the training material referenced by the DJI. 15 minutes later I was putting the drone through some very simple maneuvers – up, down, and circling about. I was a bit nervous since I have a lot of trees and part of the flight was over water. However, using it in the slowest mode, I was soon making basic maneuvers with relative ease.
I looked at a few more YouTube videos to get a better understanding of the camera settings for I didn’t have a lot of time to master them. It turns out the controls are rather simple but yet, give the camera excellent capabilities.
After a couple more short flights around the area, I went to the 411-acre property I needed to film. Again, I was a bit apprehensive for this is timberland with a 36-acre lake. I needed to get much higher than my trial flights and go much further — for they wanted a broad view of the timber and the lake.
I launched the drone from the road and went up over the tall pines. Then I flew out over the lake. The drone was in the line of sight BUT was too small to be seen when it was very far away. I could see where it was headed through the control pad with the attached iPhone but still it was a bit worrisome when it was so far away.
With video, every movement is magnified. In order to make a good video, you have to make sure all of your movements are smooth and even. The controls with this drone make it very easy. While I messed up now and then, scooting sideways when I meant to turn, due to using the wrong “stick”, the controls soon became more and more natural to use. Before long, I was maneuvring with ease. I actually even took the drone through two pine trees that were about 15 feet apart on an overlook to the lake that was about 100 yards away. Now, that might not sound like a big deal to someone used to flying a drone, but to a novice who was using the view on my iPhone as the only guide (and still a little shaky on the controls), it was a very big deal. The result was a nice dramatic shot.
While I was still being very careful, my confidence was at a high level after using the drone under these circumstances. It was easy to maneuver and its performance was outstanding. I am far from being a pro with this, but I am really a bit surprised at how easy it is to use. Even with my little bit of experience, I know it will more than meet the demands I will have for it.
So, I am extremely impressed with this drone. While it is easy to learn and master, it certainly has outstanding capabilities – especially with the camera system. 4K video and 48MP camera.
Bottom line: this is a really good choice for anyone interested in a high-quality drone with excellent flying capabilities and an outstanding camera system. Now to get my FAA-Certified Drone Pilot license so I can use it commercially. (Not required unless you are going to charge for your services).

I purchased the whole package. The communications process between seller (Amazon), Insurer/Warranty Guarantor- Manufacturer (DJI)/myself was as a failure in the processing the DJI Care Refresh coverage. Product was returned. That doesnt mean Amazon wont get their feces consolidated in the future.
The Mavic Air 2 is a most AWESOME beginner video/camera capture drone. You have to be a chimp to foul it up. It takes time in pre-flight settings. And it takes practice time. The refinements of the firmware of drone and remote controller make this a FIRST drone buy, without regrets. It can be near automatic but that’s not being your own pilot. I love First Person View (FPV). Its like an eagle’s point of view. Near to having goggles on in a drone video game.
There are better DJI platforms. For the money, the Mavic Air 2 is hands down THE winner. I love it!
Return delivered back to KY 09/29. Returned B4 30 day policy for reduced pain. As of 10/27 Amazon has failed to acknowledge return.

Unbelievable value for the money. The software, and the integration of that software with your mobil device…is fantastic. I was in avionics (aviation electronics) in the USAF…..and my mind is still reeling that I can buy and operate THIS sophisticated an unmanned flying machine for this entry price. And the camera?? OMG….I’ve been a passionate photographer most of my life. My photography gear cost tens of thousands of dollars. And the camera on this drone is competitive with some of my best gear. I’m having a ball with my Air 2, and look forward to many, many hours of fun with this fantastic tool.

I bought the Mavic Air 2 drone with the Fly More Combo and also the DJI Care Refresh. Note, that when you first activate the drone you will also activate the DJI Care Refresh insurance – it is very quick and easy to do. I’ve flown RC planes for years and have several drones also. The Mavic Air 2 is the best thing I have EVER flown! The control you have is excellent and the transmission from the drone to receiver could not be better. I use a full-sized iPad as my screen so the view from the drone is excellent. I did have to purchase a longer Lightning cord but I found a foot-long USB C-lightning cord on Amazon for $15 that works perfectly.
The case they send you with the Fly More Combo is OK but far too small for all the things I use with the drone, so I ordered a Lukus M2 Backpack that will be large enough to carry everything for the drone and also a full-sized camera.
The video and photographs I have have taken so far with the drone are the best. I am still learning all th capabilities of the drone – and there are many! So far everything has been great and I would quickly recommend this drone to anyone who wants to fly and have the ability to take excellent quality videos and photographs. You will NOT be disappointed!

DO NOT BUY the used dji drones with care refresh! Amazon does not disclose to the buyer that the care refresh you pay for is not a full 12 month warranty for the time YOU buy the product. The warranty was previously started on the original purchase and you only get whatever is left of the 12 months. The drone I bought was originally activated 9/2020. I bought it 1/2021. When I tried to activate the care refresh DJI told me there was only a warranty until 9/21. This was not in the selling description or on the item description. Very deceptive. AMAZON Customer service was very little help and actually rude when I questioned this. Usually customer service is great but VON was terrible. He suggested I buy the new drone if I expect a full warranty even though I pinged out the description does not say the warranty period is anything less than the 12 month dji care refresh warranty. I paid $977.46 for the package. They are only giving me $844.05 for my refund? This is not acceptable. Buy straight through DJI for the safest bet to get a new drone with care refresh added. You can then be sure to get a true 12 month dji care refresh warranty. You dropped the ball on this one AMAZON.
