If you’re looking for a drone that takes great video, photos, and/or is easy/safe to fly, this is the absolute best drone you can possibly find for $300. Period.
I’ve done my research, if you’re even thinking of spending anywhere north of $200, buy this. If you want a true beginner drone, any $20-$30 drone will do (don’t worry about taking pictures, just learn to fly!). Learn till it breaks. If you want a “decent” drone, w/ GPS/RTH etc., you can probably get one of those for $100 to $150… but the range will be short, and the photo/video quality acceptable at best. If you’re spending more than that, you’d be a fool not to get this.
You may or may not know, but DJI is pretty much the Apple of drones. And there’s a reason. This thing will hover in place like it’s stuck there. Takes great video’s and photos, the gimbal is smooth and accurate. Responsive controls. It will easily outclass any drone for this price.
I also have a Hubsan Zino Pro+, also a great drone. A completely different drone. At $350, it’s the next best value drone you can get for specs and performance in that price range. But it’s a different animal. I use it for long distance missions, high winds, going out over water, etc. It will drift inches at times, if not feet, and I have to constantly keep it under control in close quarters. But in more open spaces it rips, and I love it. Wind hardly touches it. It serves a different purpose.
The DJI Mini SE does lack that range, is lighter and more susceptible to high winds, and perhaps has bit shorter fly time. It doesn’t have active track, or some of the other nice soft features. Other than those minor draw backs, it is an excellent drone at perhaps unparalleled value. I’ve seen drones in the 200-300 range and ask myself, why would I EVER buy this? Do yourself a favor, if you’re looking for a GOOD QUALITY BUDGET DRONE, this is it! (Or the Hubsan Zino Pro+ if your needs are different).

I tried to use this as an automatic meat slicer. In my mind these fast spinning props would cut my turkey, salami, pepperoni, and most importantly, my ham. This product simply refuses to slice my deli meat. Not impressed.

I wanted to buy a drone for a beginner and after some research based on weight, usability, and pricing I brought the DJI mini SE. I’m really pleased with the drone as it’s easy to fly once understand the basic mechanics and controls . My first flight was in my apartment but I wouldn’t recommend this as it’s ended up crashing into things. It needs space. Since this I’ve take out to the local park and the pictures and videos are great for a beginner. I went out even when it was windy and it still manage to take some good footage. The only problem I have is that you lose connection frequently, so I haven’t flown it that far as it returns back to automatically when you lose connection I think this is down to living in a city.
Looking forward to taking this less built up space

First let me state that I own and operate many types of drones. For outright photography I tend to lean towards DJI’s line of drones. They are extremely stable and reliable. I’ve been flying them since early 2018. Now the Mini SE is a hybrid of the original DJI Mini and the Mini 2. It has the same motors as the Mini 2(+), but it’s connectivity is done with “enhanced” WiFi(-). It is very stable in a 25mph wind because of the motors , but you will be limited in distance by the WiFi signal. And that distance can vary. If you fly in a heavily urban area, I would not expect much distance over 1000 feet before your video signal starts to get choppy. But in the wide open ocean, Ive sent it out about 1600 feet with zero signal loss.
The camera: compared to similar DJI drones you will be limited to 2.7k resolution. But it is some of the sharpest video I’ve seen. The photos are in 12MP format, plenty of room for editing. What this drone lacks (and I’m not saying it in a bad way) is the automated shooting features of other similar drones. But these other similar drones will cost you a lot more than the list $299 you pay for the drone.
All in all, this is almost the perfect drone for beginners. Except for one thing: there are no sensors on board to alert you to an imminent crash. They had to cut the cost somewhere.
And yes, I would definitely recommend this drone for both beginners and experienced UAV flyers.

I’m a total novice, and I heard good things about the DJI brand, and this was available at a good price. You also don’t need a license to fly it either. It was very easy to set up, the app was simple to use and everything is obvious. I was off and flying in no time.
Flying is simple and requires little by the way of experience. There’s no latency between drone movement and what you see on your smartphone screen. Very quiet as well. I absolutely love flying this little thing, it’s a perfect introduction.
A couple of downsides – it doesn’t have its own box, so you’re either going to need to keep in the box it came with or pay out for something. Extra batteries appear to be an issue – I’ve yet to find any, and those that are available are heavier than the one provided which knocks it over that all important 250g. You will need a memory card – you can’t seem to store a flight recording directly onto your phone.
If you’re on the fence about this – just go for it. Well priced, robust, lightweight, easy to use, great for a novice, don’t even think twice!

Drone photography is very popular now and I wanted to get into it for a while. I have had a very disappointing experience with flying a micro-drone before – it has been difficult to calibrate and has drifted a lot. DJI Mini SE – gives you a very different experience: it is well controlled and easy to navigate, it has quite a few advanced features allowing a beginner to progress to an experienced pilot using the same quadcopter. There are cheaper micro drones on the market but – for the features and the quality DJI provides – there is no better deal than DJI Mini SE. In my humble opinion.

I really wanted to like this drone since it’s what i was looking for (lightweight/compact). I have bigger DJI drones and have been relatively happy with them.
Unfortunately if you’re a droid user, regardless of what you do, your phone may not connect. I tried the Qcode, tried via my DJI account, etc. but apparently my 2019 Samsung phone is not supported. At least that what the phone says, but given that DJI is awful at providing detailed information and creating intelligent software interface , one never know if that is an actual error or is it a simple bug.
Anyway, after a couple of hours of messing with it and reviewing youtube videos for a work-around, I’m returning this drone. Not worth the time wasted and the aggravation. Software wise, this thing isn’t ready for wide distribution. Perhaps in 3-4 months, DJI will get it together.

First lost video transmission from the drone to the phone connected to the controller. The drone was just around 30 feet up in the air. The live video feed on the phone froze. After a while, the RC signal was lost and the drone stopped accepting joystick commands. After that it initiated automatic RTH routine, but instead of returning to the previously recorded Home position, it just landed directly down. Luckily it was not above anyone else’s property. This drone has major connectivity issues.

I spent hours trying to get the drone to connect with my phone (I tried three different Androids) with the DJI apps from the Play Store, no luck. Since the SE is so new, I decided to scan the QR code on the box (I used Google Lens).
This took me to DJI website, and a file to download. After it finished downloading, I installed it (permission had to be granted), and then it connected the drone, controller and my phone!
I will updated on the actual flying of the drone. There are many excellent tutorials on the web, and as I’m a beginner, I will study them with care.
I also took the TRUST test. It’s pretty straightforward, and if you haven’t done it, do it.

I have been thinking about purchasing a drone for some time now after my friend got one. I was quite skeptical and I, as a person with purpose, needed this device to be useful. I could understand that it was quite fun, but I needed a use for it to justify the 400 dollar price tag (with tax). After looking at a bunch of different drones in the 100-250 dollar price range, I realized that they were pretty much just for fun and hobbies use.
What I discovered is that, if you are to buy a drone and are on a tight budget, either don’t buy one or buy this one. After using it a few times I can completely recommend this drone from a skeptical point of view.
The main differentiating factor between this drone and other cheaper drones is a few things. Firstly, the quality. DJI makes the best and also most expensive drones in the world. When a high-quality company makes a cheaper product you can be sure that a lot of the technology and know-how from higher-end drones trickles its way down to the cheaper models. This means that the value is very good.
Secondly, these DJI drones are known for their very excellent cameras. With this drone, you are not just getting a camera for which you can see what the drone sees (a necessity for flying) but rather an aerial photography device. The camera is so good you could absolutely think of this drone as a flying camera. Really, I would rate it about as good as a point-and-shoot or an iPhone 12. Another thing to note about the camera is that it is on a gimble, so your photos and videos will be crystal clear and right on point. The colour accuracy from the drone’s camera is phenomenal.
Lastly, with a drone like the DJI MIni SE you are getting a premium product, and you can feel that. The app is amazing. The controls are well thought out. It’s just fantastic.
Long story short, other drones are just not worth your money. More expensive drones like the Mini 2 (while good) are very expensive. These drones won’t break the bank while providing a spurious experience.
