British Superbike Review 2008 [DVD

Mr. C. J. Gray –
I’m not by any stretch of the imagination an aficionado of the BSB series but I’ve always had a passing interest and at £2 for a five hour season review DVD I was straight in there. There’s no denying that this DVD has enough of the action from the 2008 season; each race gets about 15 minutes of highlights and there’s a good mix of trackside and onboard shots. However, as each race gets the same amount of coverage we spend longer than we want watching the more processional races and less time on the barn stormers.
What I did miss was the pre and post race interviews with the riders, of which there were virtually none! No post race disection of any incidents, or the winner’s view of the race. Hence it is 300 minutes of solid racing, which some people may like, but for me I’d prefer the DVD to tell the story of the season (which, let’s face it, doesn’t all happen on the track).
Overall, this review will show much of the action from the season, however it’s not the slickest production ever made so I leave it with three stars. But at £2 I’d still buy it again.
